2022 Creative Review
As the curtain opens on 2023, I would like to summarise the achievements of 2022 and outline my plans for the new year.
In 2022, I became an Independent author, publishing The Connickle Conundrum in September. This was the culmination of almost three years of plotting, drafting and self-editing. My collaboration with Aime Sund of Red Leaf Word Services and Rena Violet of Covers By Violet proved invaluable. Their talent, expertise, hard work and understanding of my work, resulted in the successful launch of a book in which they share my pride.
Shortly before the book release, I was approached by Ruth O’Reilly of local community radio station AllFM(96.9) for an interview which was broadcast on the Sunday of the launch weekend. With Ruth’s support and encouragement, I have written and recorded two short stories, a Gothic horror and a Ghost story, which were broadcast at Hallowe’en and Christmas respectively. Podcasts of the shows in which they were broadcast can be found on AllFM’s Spotify page.
Since September, I have also commenced work on a side project of short stories featuring two Victorian police detectives.
So what are the plans for 2023?
I intend to complete Book two, as yet untitled, of The ABC Chronicles in the Autumn; continuing my collaboration with Aime Sund and Rena Violet, who have both indicated their interest in working on the project. At the time of writing this Blog, I have written about thirteen thousand words of the first draft.
As inspiration arises, I will also continue to write more short stories for the detective anthology.
In conclusion, I wish you all a happy, healthy, peaceful New Year and hope you continue to follow my blog and enjoy my adventures in speculative, historical science fantasy.
