I won’t back down!

Until something goes wrong with your back, you don’t realise how much every other muscle in your body is balanced, or counterbalanced, through the muscles around your spine.

I have mild scoliosis; a slight lateral curvature of the spine which 99% of the time is not a problem. Of course, occasionally, I get back ache and even the odd twinge of pain, but once or twice in a blue moon, I do something silly which results in a few hours or days virtually immobile. Unfortunately, the spasms of pain are caused by a mysterious, innocuous movement, or combination of movements which I have yet to identify. If I knew what caused it, I would not do it, obviously!

This time, I properly tweaked it. So, for the last two days I have sat in a chair, propped up with cushions trying very hard not to do anything that might cause further pain.

Thankfully, I used the time to message Rena, my cover designer, and complete my review of my editor Aime’s first round of Copyedits and return the amended manuscript to her. So we are moving ever closer to publication of the first book in The ABC Chronicles trilogy. I am hoping to make an announcement in the next seven days and set a publishing timetable.

Here is where I have spent the last two days - down but not out!
