2024 The Year in Review

As 2024 draws to a close, here’s a (very) brief review of how the writing year unfolded.

For the first few months of the year work on The Brunswick Brawler continued at pace. Self-editing, as usual, took much longer than expected but eventually the manuscript was in a presentable condition for hand over to my super talented copy editor, Aime Sund of Red Leaf Word Services.

By June Rena Violet of Covers By Violet was applying her extraordinary skills to create a sumptuous cover while Julia Scott of Evenstar Books was adding a new dimension to the interior formatting.

While the manuscript was in the hands of my cherished co-collaborators, from the beginning of March to the end of May, I took the opportunity to write a well-received weekly blog outlining my writing process.

The book was published at the end of July 2024 by which time the third and final instalment of the ABC Chronicles trilogy was well under way, and I have been working hard on the manuscript ever since.

Other notable events included a very enjoyable visit to Whitby Steampunk Weekend in July and another radio interview with the fabulous Ruth O’Reilly of local community radio station AllFM 96.9 broadcast on 22 September.

So, what’s on the horizon for 2025?

Work will continue on the third part of the trilogy… to be published between July and September.

We will be attending the next Whitby Steampunk Weekend on 7-9 February.

I am very pleased to have been invited to be part of an author table with D R Miller and Paul Eccentric at Portmeirion Steampunk Weekend on May Bank Holiday weekend.

If you come to the Portmeirion event, please come and say hello - I look forward to seeing you there.

Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy, Peaceful New Year !
